ABOUT US:
History:
The Community
Living Program was established in 1987 and is a program of Southwest
Community Services, a member agency of Catholic Community Services of
Southern Arizona, Inc. CLP originally began as a residential
component of the Community Outreach Program for the Deaf (COPD web
link here) and grew into a separate program of services, providing
residential options for individual with developmental disabilities.
Funding for the CLP is primarily by the state of Arizona, Department
of Economic Security/Division of Developmental Disabilities. (ADES/DDD).
Private pay and insurance payments are also an option for
individuals. Persons of all ethnic, religious and cultural
backgrounds are welcome.
The CLP has been providing
residential support services to people with disabilities for nearly 20
years in the Tucson area. Plans are underway to expand services
into other areas of Arizona.
Making a Difference:
Our mission at Community
Living Program (CLP) is to provide residential support services to
people with development disabilities so that they can lead meaningful,
enriched lives and participate fully in their communities. With about
50 individuals receiving residential supports at any given time, we
provide a spectrum of services-from in-home support for a few hours
each day to around-the-clock comprehensive care in a licensed group
home. We tailor our services to each individual's needs and desires.
We also support residents in achieving goals and pursuing interests
that will allow them greater fulfillment in their personal lives.
That's how we make a difference in the lives of the people we serve
and their families.
Quality of
Life:
CLP seeks to enrich the
lives of the individuals served by helping them pursue their hobbies
and interests, engage in productive activities, and contribute to
their community. Many individuals attend day programs, while others
work or attend school. CLP staff members support the residents in
these endeavors by providing support and assistance at whatever level
necessary. CLP staff members also organize fun recreational
activities based on individual interests and abilities. These
activities range from shopping, going to movies and concerts,
participating in state and local events, fishing, taking vacations,
and throwing parties throughout the year for various occasions.
Birthdays, holidays and any other special occasion are made more
memorable by individualized celebrations.
